That's pretty pathetic. lol You'd think they'd find some grace for each other and see how wrong they've both been in the marriage and work harder at it. Marriage takes work.

Yes, I'd think so too, but that's not what happened here. Yes, marriage takes work. But I think most of the people reading this will know that.
Still, it's like a real-life version of the old Pina Colada song.

I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the lady you've looked for, write to me, and escape."

I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad.

"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..

"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

If you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.

It's surprising how many Christian marriages can go awry in this very way, though. It's a sobering thought to wonder when the last time I said something nice to my husband other than the obligatory "I love you, too," when he's on his way to work. Thankfully, it hasn't been that long, but it's something to be mindful of. :)

Yes. Like Viv and I do, they evidently subscribe to the "Divorce? Never. Murder? Often!" way of thinking.

Hehe, it's often said, "until death do us part."

I don't think murder was part of the original plan. On the other hand, if I'm found murdered, statistically Viv is one most likely to have done it. But that's OK, because if she's found dead, I'm in the frame.
But more seriously, murder of a spouse is a problem in society, but it pales into insignificance compared to the widespread prevalence of divorce.

To be honest, I think divorce is the better route, but either case is very sad, really.

Yes, divorce is better than murder, but I was thinking of the overall numbers rather than individual cases.
It's very late here, and I can see that I'll run into difficulty if I try to keep a coherent discussion going here for much longer tonight.

I can't find my password for the church web site, so letting you know here. On the front page of the notice for Sunday it says rembrance, it seems to have a missing me. which is very apt because we are supposed to be thinking then about others and not ourselves. so perhaps someone left the word me out on purpose.

Thank you. I'll get it fixed. Looking at it, I think the date is wrong too...
