08:45 am: On the train
This morning, the trains were much quieter. I guess this is because a
lot of people are taking today off to take advantage of the long
weekend. It's the so-called Whit holiday, though in fact that festival
has been and gone. Nevertheless, I'll be grateful for a day off, for
obvious reasons, even though it means a day without pay. Some things
are beyond price. And I don't mean MasterCard.
Elsewhere, it's surprising that Nation States, evidently popular five
years ago, is still going strong. I don't know of many sites that
continue, largely unchanged, for free, for so long. LJ is one, of
course, but that's not free if you want to take full advantage of it,
and it's not so unchanged, as its ownership keeps changing hands. Any
others that spring to mind?
Anyhow, the weekend is nearly upon us. What exciting things will
happen? I hope I can look forward to a weekend less exciting than the
last one. And even though it's less crowded than usual, we're still
full and standing at Farringdon. That is all.

Blast from the past

I had absolutely forgotten about nation states. I just visited there and restored two of my three nations, Kabredoul and Karlosia. Karls mad ineptitude evidently had a different password and will likely never return. *sigh* it was a mad dictatorship and interesting...

Unchanged websites

I know of a certain poetry website which has been around for thirteen years and has remained unchanged for at least five.

I don't think he's still writing, except for the occasional obituary doggerel.
