I can't help thinking of the parable of the wise and foolish virgins.
Quite. I am sitting up here in my northern ivory tower watching the news in astonishment at the fuss the south is making. I know that it is no fun at all driving in that lot, however, Ken Livingston talked about the gritting escapade last week. He said the problem was that many councils had shut their depots and kept no supply at all. So, wise and foolish virgins seems apt.

Here in Newcastle we are basking in the sunshine of course. Literally. Gorgeous day. Blue skies. Snow on the ground and the traffic is moving fine.
