After breakfast, off to Waimangu. We have been here before, but never with children big enough to walk the whole track and take the boat ride. Spectacular views throughout. The boat passed by the sites of the Pink and White Terraces, destroyed in 1886, of which not a trace remains. After lunch, we walked round the Buried Village, another victim of the 1886 eruption, where the only European victim was Edwin Bainbridge of Newcastle-u-t. Back to the novel for a coffee before the next adventure.
