One of those speeches will be tomorrow, from the "Special Occasion Speeches" manual. Speech 2 of this manual is "Speaking In Praise". I will be attempting to give a version, revised by the passing of time, of the eulogy I gave at my father's funeral. See http://baptism.co.nz/jah.html for the original version. With the passing of time, it will be easier to give, but not easy.
It's noticeable that the bar is raised between the first Communication and Leadership manual and the Advanced manuals. Elsewhere in the organisation, I also need the Advanced Leader award to get to my final goal of Distinguished Toastmaster. For Advanced Leader I need
- A Competent Leader award, which I got in May 2000
- Completion of a Success and Communication module. I ran "From Speaker to Trainer" in June 2000.
- Sponsorship or Mentorship of a new club. I haven't done this yet, but I have expressed an interest in doing so.
- Completion of the "High Performance Leadership" progrmme. I haven't done this either.
The other goal I have in the medium-to-long term is to become a Certified Risk Manager under the PRMIA scheme. This will entail a significant amount of study and revision, but the projected date, all being well, is the end of 2005.
That's all for now: it's getting late, and two major goals divulged in one day is plenty.
