Good morning

A couple of things...

If the supermarkets or anyone else did decide to raise the prices of alcohol in some (futile IMHO) attempt to stop binge drinking, would it simply introduce a floor price, or would the prices of premium brands increase too? That is, would it affect me? I don't drink the utterly cheapest cider or beer, the stuff that is widely quoted as being cheaper than lemonade or water.

Last night, Arsenal and AC Milan drew. I wandered down to the bar to get a bite to eat and to watch the end of the game. In my opinion, Arsenal were by far the better team, at least at the end of the game, and goalless was a surprise. It was also fun to be in a bar largely filled with Londoners, who cheered and groaned as Arsenal continued just failing to score.

Just before that, I'd been watching Crimewatch, which had a reconstruction of the Penhallow Hotel and interviews with survivors. I stayed there in my early teens, and pictures of the reception, the bar, the ballroom and so forth seemed very familiar to me. And if I want to go back, I've missed my chance. The arsonists, whoever they were, destroyed the place.
