09:20 pm: Two weeks?
Not counting the occasional meme or picture, it seems that it is now almost two weeks since I posted an entry describing what has been happening. As I suggested in the posting that went missing, which described the week before Evita, I spend a lot of my time living life rather than writing about it, so that I end up just writing about the less interesting parts of life.
The result of this is people thinking I live a tedious life, when in fact parts of it are interesting: I just don't write about them. So, thinking back over the past couple of weeks, it has been a busy time at work, as we have worked towards getting together all the information required for the Board's announcement of our annual results, while I have also been involved in Toastmasters, where I chaired last Thursday's meeting, with the AIBF, with whom I have been involved in a committee meeting and a lunchtime seminar over the past couple of weeks. Not only that, but our church council also had a meeting last week, though I'm bound to say that no particularly vital decisions were made at it, so far as I can recall.
This weekend (a long weekend for Labour Day) was taken up by tidying up the place and straightening it out somewhat, and entertaining Koos and Jess on Sunday evening. It was a pleasure to have them to dinner, though they didn't stay late as Jess was not in the finest of health.
One drawback, but hopefully not of longlasting importance, is that I cut my hand while washing the dishes just before they arrived. A glass broke and as it did so, it cut into the back of my hand just below the right forefinger. Quite deep, quite inconvenient, but I'm sure I will survive.
Today was the holiday itself, and after a late start, the boys went off to the swimming pool in Upper Hutt followed by an afternoon playing boardgames at the Moores. Viv and I went to Lower Hutt and bought some boxes, partly for magazines and partly just to make the place a bit tidier. After that, it was time to do the supermarket shopping.
Tonight, Viv has gone off to a church planning meeting for the Sunday School, while I have finished off the first series of Star Trek. You'll see that listed on the family's DVD list click here which is completely up to date until we buy Series 2 and 3 of Star Trek (November) and the extended Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (December), the only two currently projected titles on the list. The boys seemed to think that I wouldn't get through the 29 episodes of Star Trek before the next ones came out, but I did!
A valiant attenpt to post more regularly than the last couple of weeks will now follow.

Can any of the very clever people in your household help Ben with him homework?

Doing a history project on The Romans. Can't find the meaning of Cassus. Any offers of suggested meanings?

Re: Cassus

empty, void, containing nothing

sometimes "in vain" but that's basically the same.

Re: Cassus

Yes it means empty or vain and the Roman name Cassius was derived from it. Say hi to Ben for me.
