10:07 pm: The inevitable Monday
Well, one of my least favourite things happened this morning. Someone asked me how my weekend was, and I couldn't answer straight away because it was a blank.
You may already have read about Saturday...I picked up the boys and we went off to Raewyn's, where Viv was still working on the Kids Games programme. About 11:30 we got home and about 12:30 to bed. not late for some, but late for me. Matthew and I both struggled to be up in time for church. After the service (theme: Emmaus Road) we were tasked with looking after the lunch. Despite two dozen bread rolls and a large bunch of bananas, it wasn't enough. David went off to archery, I went off to the vestry retreat, Viv went off to Raewyn's.
Hours later, after hearing about the future of the church, I got a lift back to Raewyn's and we zipped off to buy curry and all that entails.
This morning, as you will have heard if you follow phone posts, it was very foggy, but not so foggy that there was no bus service. The day continued...bagels for lunch...rearranged O'Shea oratory coaching afterwards. We went on too long, so I didn't catch the 7:05 from town but the 7:35. While I was ordering fish and chips (to eat and to fill in time) I got a call from 617 who will be meeting up with me for dinner in Wellington tomorrow night. If you want to know where, send me a message to ask, leaving a number I can contact you on.
But I ate the fish and chips, caught the next train, waited for another bus and walked up the steps and the hill home. Then I got talking to Matthew about "gangsta" spelling of words, and we came across an example that had "thang" instead of "thing". Matthew can't see the point in that, but it reminded me of "We don't need that Fascist Groove Thang" by Heaven 17, so I dug out my old copy of "Penthouse and Pavement".

(Everybody move to prove the groove)
Have you heard it on the news
About this fascist groove thang
Evil men with racist views
Spreading all across the land
Don't just sit there on your ass
Unlock that funky chaindance
Brothers, sisters shoot your best
We don't need this fascist groove thang

Brothers, sisters, we don't need this fascist groove thang

History will repeat itself
Crisis point we're near the hour
Counterforce will do no good
Hot you ass I feel your power
Hitler proves that funky stuff
Is not for you and me girl
Europe's an unhappy land
They've had their fascist groove thang

Democrats are out of power
Across that great wide ocean
Reagan's president elect
Fascist god in motion
Generals tell him what to do
Stop your good time dancing
Train their guns on me and you
Fascist thang advancing

Sisters, brothers lend a hand
Increase our population
Grab that groove thang by the throat
And throw it in the ocean
You're real tonight you move my soul
Let's cruise out of the dance war
Come out your house and dance your dance
Shake that fascist groove thang
(Shake it!)

And I'm still listening to the album as I type this, but it will soon be bedtime. Viv is out at a Toastmasters meeting, but said she was going on to Raewyn's afterwards.

FOr some reason I had the idea you had gone for entrails
I have been to a restaurant in Hong Kong that only served offal, and those little extras like feet and tongues. I glanced through the menu as we drank our tea and said calmly, quelling a rising panic, I think we need to leave!

You are busy at the moment, do you ever get any down time?
And what will you do when you get back to the other side of the world?

You don't want to know what else it entails. Last night was chicken tikka massala. Do you eat curry? You sound like the sort of person who will be shocked to hear that we like to eat goat curry.
Yes, I do get some time gto slack off, but it's not now! The fact that it is just after the end of the Bank's half-year doesn't help things much.
In answer to the other question, find a job, help Viv sort out mum's house - where do you think my tendency to store junk comes from.
And if you send me a snailmail address, we can probably send you a blue picture or two.

I adore curry. I cook curries here all the time. We live for rice!
I don't think I'm shocked that you eat goat curry - surprised you can get it here, I guess. And sorry for the Masons, if you take away their goats ;)

I can send you my address *g* - by e-mail, I guess, if you're on this laptop, since the PC is going back to the shop tomorrow... argh!
/checks e-mail/ you are there! Good.

You can always send stuff to me @livejournal.com - it seems to work for most of the people I want to email if there's no other address, but i see you did have another address.
Matthew doesn't much care for rice, but the rest of us eat it regularly and keenly. So curry didn't feature on that long list of things you don't like to eat.
