09:47 pm: Live from New York City
A memory from years ago:

Ian: If McDonalds took American Express, I'd never need cash again.
Richard: That's the saddest thing I ever heard.

Today, that dream became a reality. This may not be a Good Thing. We didn't make it out to 42nd Street for the fireworks, though. They have just finished on NBC. Viv is sure, as am I, that the BBC would have made a better job of showing it.

This afternoon, we called in on St Patrick's Cathedral. It's a very large, decorated and extremely cool place to be, and only a couple of blocks from the hotel.

An early night: this time tomorrow we'll be on our way to Munich.

Current Music: End of the fireworks show

I doubt if the Golden arches here would take American Express, but maybe I am wrong. Can't wait until you are home, if nothing else it will save me having to answer the same old question from Ben every morning. How many days until Matthew arrives? You would think he would be capable of working that one out for himself! I think he is very excited and just wants to mention it every morning. We drove past the house again this morning, the UK summer with rain and sun and more rain has left a bit of tidying work to be done on the drive and front garden. We'll soon make short work of that though once you are settled in. Enjoy Munich and London! take care all

Gosh, I can hardly believe you'll be on to Munich so soon. I'm glad you're having a good time. Did the McDonalds taste the same?
Safe travelling and take care of each other! *g*

Yes McDonalds tastes the same everywhere, though a large drink is much larger here and so are large fries!

We did find it the same in Hong Kong, as well, although it was much cheaper there too!
I can imagine Americans having LARGE fries for some reason!

And you would be absolutely right.
For dessert, they sell TWO apple pies...and that only costs $1. Yet in NZ, just ONE apple pie is $1.95, still more than US $1.
The meals are more expensive than in NZ, but you do get more food.

I've heard they like their apple pies over there!
Well, at least I can be reassured you're not starving on your journey *g*!
