11:32 am: Bicycle helmets
In New Zealand, motorcyclists have to wear appropriate helmets and so do pushbike riders.
I know that Britain has long had a requirement for motorcyclists, but please can an English person let me know what the rules are here for pushbike riders?
There's a rigorously enforced law in England insisting on a cyclist having lights when riding after dark. At any rate, it always used to be strictly enforced and I suppose it still is. In New Zealand, by contrast, such a law exists but I'd been living there several years before I checked: it is regularly flouted without any consequence.

The Highway Code says that bicyclists should wear helmets, but it's not mandatory by law.
