What do you call a main meal served to family and or friends between about six and seven in the evening? Possible answers include but are not limited to "dinner", "tea", "supper". This question is here because I am not sure what term to use when I describe such a thing in my journal.

Crikey. Tough question. I think I use them all depending upon what kind of meal it is. Mst often I say, 'something to eat'. You know? come round for 'something to eat'. My friends invite me for 'something to eat'. I say 'supper' a lot but I also say 'dinner' and 'tea'. Depends on with whom I am with too. I am going to start paying more attention to what I call it. I also think I adapt depending on what part of the world I am in. I don't think I have a clear cut answer so I can't complete your poll. Maybe in your journal you could call it, evening meal? Eek! problems, problems, problems.
