It's dullish here this morning and I'm sure it will either rain or go dark before tomorrow morning. However, back to the weekend: it was a fairly quiet Saturday afternoon as we prepared for Ian and Debbi and their children to come and visit for the evening. Catering for a party of nine, including three vegetarian visitors alongside our carnivores proved a challenge, but Viv provided magnificently and I think the fact that everything except for some cream disappeared was most encouraging.
Some garlic olive oil was discarded this morning, meaning that the kitchen stinks just at the moment, though that might just be the rotting corpses of the vampires who wandered in.
On Saturday night, we talked about various things, some technology-related, others not. Ian seemed very excited to discover our wireless network, which he logged onto, bringing the number of devices simultaneously connected to the net through our network to a new record of six.
The usual Sunday services: in the morning, Steve was speaking on Proverbs Chapter 8. We went off to Betty's for lunch afterwards. Yesterday, for a change, roast beef. That was very good. As usual, the boys went home, leaving the "big people" to talk in more peace. No complaints about that.
Our new chairs, ordered on New Years Eve, will apparently be delivered on Wednesday, inside the 42 day delivery we were promised, so that they should be well in place before Viv's birthday party on February 25.
Today is likely to be taken up with following up some previously unfinished business, buying a new modem cable and giving blood. At least, that's the plan at present.

Pretty wet here. But I think it might be brightening up now.

Re the veggie cooking. Sounds like Viv has it sorted but I could recommend The New Cranks Recipe Book by Nadine Abensur as one to have on the shelf. It is good for entertaining and there is some nice stuff in there. Not just a load of old lentils. :)

I'd be sure too

"I'm sure it will either rain or go dark before tomorrow morning".

I'd be sure it will go dark before tomorrow morning too, probably about 5-6pm.

Thanks for thinking about giving blood - many donations have been gratefully received by myself in the past. They won't let me give blood which seems a shame since I have benefited from the system many times before.

Re: I'd be sure too

Just got back from giving blood. My official count is now 3, but that doesn't include the blood I gave as a student or just after or the blood I gave in NZ before I was banned.
