10:01 pm: Shrove Tuesday / Mardi Gras
In the afternoon, we went to Brikenhead. I paid a cheque into the bank, we looked around a variety of shops, then we checked our route for this evening. It was very cold.
Just before six, we set off to the Little Chef in Eastham for our Shrove Tuesday pancakes. We started off with a main course - I had an all day breakfast, as did Alison. For dessert, it was pancakes, of course - the purpose of the visit. Then we came back through the quite heavy snow. I went through emails and things while Viv did something with her new light-box and embossing device. And it's getting close to bedtime.

Sadly the snow here doesn't really stick, it falls then melts, then more falls. At the moment there is a sparse covering on icy ground but not really picturesque, and right now the sky is clear blue and the sun is shining, so although I think it will pretty cold today I don't think that we will have much more snow!

Oh, that's a shame. I noticed here the last few mornings have actually seemed darker already at half past six. I can't believe that's happening yet, but I guess it is March, huh.

Our days are definitely getting longer even though there is no noticeable difference in temperature! Yes it's March, St David's Day and Ash Wednesday all at once, what fun!

My prediction on the snow still stands, really heavy just now, well the hail stones are heavy anyway! If it isn't snowing by 10am tomorrow morning then I'll have to take it back! Robert is planning on driving in to Wales tomorrow to show Summer the snow. I am sure a one year old will be interested,... not!

it still wasn't as much snow as I wanted, only a light smattering. Would love to get some more for the kids to play in at the weekend, and the big kids too! When you come around for coffee be careful on the driveway, it gets slippy when it wet.

It snowed some more overnight, and Viv has just been outside with her digital camera. It would be better if she hadn't left the door wide open. Expect pictures in her journal soon...

No, I was sitting in the living room and a blast of cold air from the hallway came and smacked me hard. Then Matthew asked if there was such a thing as a cold-wave, like a heat-wave, but cold...
You complained last time we mentioned what we were wearing. Years ago there was an online CD shop with the slogan "shop naked". I think they went bankrupt.

I complained? Why did I complain?
Sorry.

No, don't apologise. I think others would be uncomfotable with the idea of naked people using computers too.

Oops, mouse died. It sure eats through the batteries. I wonder what I was in the middle of saying... *shrug* doesn't matter. I don't mind if you have clothes on or not. Well, not too much *g*

At our Ash Wednesday service, our rector was saying that there are so many things we do because we are concerned about other people's perceptions of us. "For example, the clothes we wear...no, he explained, I don't mean wearing clothes at all...I don't want to go there...but what we wear."
Well, I don't often wear clothes because of other people's expectations (though I will be wearing a suit for an interview) so clothing isn't really the issue for me, but there are other things I do or don't do because of the expectations of others.

Perhaps because I have a problem accepting people's perceptions of me, I tend to wear the same tatty jeans with holes in the knees at most times apart from work. I wear them to the pool, to music practice and to the shops. I am wearing them now! I refuse to dress up to impress people like my mother does. Hmm, I think that may be the issue there. I just won't impress people that way.
