Late night

It was a fairly quiet evening. After our meal, we went off to vote and
stopped by at Betty's place for a coffee. Then back home to start on a
sermon... By the time I had written all I could last night it was time
to find out some election results. Neither Viv nor I could find a
comprehensive web site, so we just waited for Wirral results to come
in. I have to say that the results here very largely resembled the
results last year, and I saw no evidence of the kicking that the media
suggested the tony would get. As the results came in, I had Patti
Smith's new album on in the background. Twelve cover versions. Some
are very odd choices in my humble opinion. But two songs stand out,
and I wasn't sure I would appreciate them when I first saw the track
listing. Dylan's Changing Of The Guard and Wonder's Pastime Paradise
are both interpreted in a way that makes them interesting and
introspective. Great versions. So with most of the results in, it was
definitely time for sleep. Cruel death surrenders with its pale ghost
retreating between the king and queen of swords.
